We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Officer to join a well-established housing organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive housing professional who enjoys working with residents, managing tenancy-related matters and making a positive difference within local communities.
The role
As a Housing Officer, you will take responsibility for a defined caseload of properties and residents, providing a professional and responsive housing management service.
You will be responsible for managing day-to-day tenancy matters, supporting tenancy sustainment and addressing issues such as rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches and safeguarding concerns.
The role will involve regular contact with residents, property visits and partnership working with internal teams and external agencies.
Key responsibilities
*Manage a portfolio of properties and residents effectively.
*Provide advice and support to residents throughout their tenancy.
*Monitor and manage rent arrears and take appropriate action where required.
*Investigate and manage anti-social behaviour and tenancy breaches.
*Carry out tenancy visits, inspections and neighbourhood visits.
*Support vulnerable residents and identify safeguarding concerns.
*Work collaboratively with external agencies and partner organisations.
*Maintain accurate records and ensure casework is managed effectively.
*Ensure all housing management activity complies with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
*Resolve resident enquiries and complaints professionally and within agreed timescales.
*Contribute to tenancy sustainment and positive community outcomes.
What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working within social housing, housing management, tenancy management or a similar environment.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
*Previous experience managing a housing caseload.
*Knowledge of tenancy management and relevant housing legislation.
*Experience dealing with rent arrears, ASB and tenancy breaches.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*The confidence to deal with challenging conversations and situations.
*Excellent organisational and case management skills.
*A customer-focused and solution-oriented approach.
*The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
*Good IT and administrative skills.
