Location: Derby
Salary: £29,620 – £35,320 per annum, including sleep-ins and bonuses
Sleep-ins: £70 per night
Hours: 40 hours per week, including days, lates, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays






Job Purpose
The Residential Care Worker will provide high-quality care and support to children and young people, promoting their emotional, physical, educational and personal development.


The role will involve acting as a positive role model, safeguarding children and young people, promoting independence and helping to create a safe, nurturing and supportive home environment.


Key Responsibilities
*Provide individualised care in line with each child’s care plan, risk assessment and safety plan.
*Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
*Support emotional, physical, educational and social development.
*Promote independence, confidence and positive relationships.
*Act as a positive role model and maintain professional boundaries.
*Support school attendance, homework, educational activities and appropriate leisure activities.
*Support family contact where required and in line with individual care plans.
*Encourage children and young people to participate in activities, events and experiences safely.
*Promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
*Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming home environment.
*Complete required health and safety checks and report any concerns.
*Maintain accurate and timely records, reports and daily documentation.
*Follow safeguarding, health and safety and other relevant policies and procedures.
*Report safeguarding or welfare concerns to the Registered Manager or appropriate manager.
*Work effectively as part of the residential care team.
*Complete mandatory training and take responsibility for ongoing professional development.


Person Specification
Experience
*Previous experience working with children and young people in social care, education or similar settings is desirable but not essential, as training is provided.
*Experience supporting children and young people with challenging or complex behaviours is desirable.
*Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and managing sensitive situations is desirable.


Qualifications
*Willingness to undertake, actively work towards, or already hold a Level 4 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce.
*Commitment to completing the relevant qualification within two years where required.

Additional Requirements
*Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and register with the DBS Update Service.
*Ability to work flexibly according to the rota, including nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
*Full UK driving licence is desirable.
