Role: Financial Litigation Solicitor
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
Contract: Full time, permanent
Location: Manchester City Centre
Our client is a specialist claimant law firm with a strong focus on financial and commercial litigation. The firm acts for individuals and businesses across a range of complex claims, with particular expertise in financial mis-selling, consumer finance, irresponsible lending, fraud and wider commercial disputes.
The team is continuing to grow and is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Litigation Solicitor to join its Manchester-based practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with a genuine interest in financial litigation who is looking to develop their expertise within a specialist, claimant-focused environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of financial litigation matters, taking responsibility for claims from initial assessment through to resolution and, where necessary, litigation.
The role will involve a mixture of pre-action work, dispute resolution and contested litigation, with the opportunity to work on a range of financial mis-selling and consumer finance claims.
Key Responsibilities*Managing a caseload of financial litigation claims from inception through to settlement or trial.
*Advising clients in relation to financial mis-selling and consumer finance disputes.
*Handling claims involving mis-sold financial products, lending, finance agreements and commission arrangements.
*Preparing and submitting complaints to relevant financial institutions, the Financial Ombudsman Service, Financial Services Compensation Scheme and other appropriate redress schemes.
*Drafting letters of claim, pleadings, statements of case, witness statements and other litigation documentation.
*Issuing proceedings and progressing matters through the County Court and other relevant forums.
*Managing disclosure, evidence, applications, directions and other procedural aspects of litigation.
*Liaising with clients, opponents, counsel, experts and other third parties.
*Ensuring all matters are progressed in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules and relevant pre-action protocols.
*Maintaining accurate and comprehensive case records using the firm’s case management systems.
*Working to deadlines, financial targets and regulatory requirements while maintaining a high standard of client care.
*Supporting and providing guidance to junior members of the team where required.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with solid civil litigation experience, ideally with exposure to financial litigation, consumer credit, financial mis-selling or another claimant litigation environment.
We would be particularly interested in candidates with experience in areas such as:
*Financial mis-selling
*PCP and motor finance claims
*Consumer credit litigation
*Commission-related claims
*Irresponsible lending
*Bank or financial fraud
*Commercial litigation
*Group or multi-party litigation
*FOS / FSCS complaints and redress schemes
Candidates from a broader civil litigation background who have a genuine interest in developing a career within financial litigation will also be considered.
Essential Skills & Experience*Qualified Solicitor with relevant post-qualification litigation experience.
*Strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and civil litigation processes.
*Experience managing a caseload with a degree of autonomy.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Strong drafting and analytical abilities.
*A commercially minded and proactive approach.
*Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
*Ability to work effectively to deadlines and targets.
*Strong client-care skills and a professional approach.
*Ability to work independently whilst also contributing positively to a wider team.
Desirable*Previous experience of financial mis-selling or consumer finance litigation.
*Experience of PCP / motor finance claims.
*Experience of group litigation or high-volume litigation.
*Previous experience of dealing with the FOS, FSCS or other financial redress schemes.
*Experience supervising or mentoring paralegals or junior fee earners.
