Are you an experienced Transport Manager looking to take ownership of a busy and dynamic operation? Our client, a well-established industrial and manufacturing business, is seeking a results-driven professional to lead their transport function, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of goods across the UK.
Your role
As Transport Manager, you will play a key role in managing the day-to-day transport operation, overseeing fleet performance, driver management, route planning, and compliance. Working closely with operational teams, you will ensure customer expectations are met while driving efficiency and continuous improvement throughout the department.
Key responsibilities include:
*Managing all transport and fleet activities to ensure operational excellence.
*Leading, motivating, and developing a team of drivers and transport staff.
*Maintaining full compliance with Operator Licence regulations, Drivers’ Hours Rules, and UK transport legislation.
*Monitoring transport KPIs, fleet utilisation, and cost performance.
*Managing vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and defect reporting.
*Investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
*Collaborating with warehouse, production, and operations teams to deliver outstanding service levels.
*Driving continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
*Ensuring health and safety standards are always maintained.

The ideal candidate will have:
*Previous experience in a Transport Manager position within an industrial, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, or warehousing environment.
*Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements.
*A Transport Manager CPC qualification (desirable).
*Proven leadership experience managing transport teams and drivers.
*Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
*Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and control costs.
*Experience using transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
