Initial 3-Month Contract
Full-Time
We are currently recruiting for a Private Rented Sector Enabling Officer to join a busy Housing Service on an initial 3-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional to play a vital role in supporting homeless households and those threatened with homelessness into suitable accommodation within the private rented sector.
The Role
As a Private Rented Sector Enabling Officer, you will manage a caseload of households requiring support into private rented accommodation and work proactively with landlords, agents and accommodation providers to secure sustainable housing solutions.
You will contribute to homelessness prevention activities and support the authority’s strategy to reduce the use of temporary accommodation.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage a caseload of households requiring access to private rented accommodation
*Source suitable accommodation within the private rented sector
*Develop and maintain positive relationships with landlords, agents and accommodation providers
*Negotiate tenancy arrangements and sustainable housing solutions
*Support homelessness prevention and temporary accommodation reduction initiatives
*Undertake property visits and assess accommodation suitability
*Provide advice and support to applicants throughout the rehousing process
*Maintain accurate records and case management information
*Work closely with housing colleagues and external partners to achieve positive outcomes
About You
The successful candidate will have:
*Previous experience working within Housing Options, Homelessness Prevention or Private Rented Sector services
*Experience engaging with landlords and letting agents
*Knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation
*Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
*Excellent communication and customer service skills
*The ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
*Experience working within a local authority or social housing environment is highly desirable
