Salary: £37,000 - £38,000 per annum
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Start Date: Ideally 7th September 2026
Hours: Split Shift (6:00am - 10:00am and 2:00pm - 5:00pm)
The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Premises Manager to join a busy and welcoming school in Bermondsey. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on facilities professional looking for a long-term role within an educational environment.Working on a split-shift basis, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, security, and operational running of the school site, ensuring that the premises remain safe, secure, and well-maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
*Opening and securing the school site each day.
*Carrying out routine site inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
*Coordinating repairs and liaising with external contractors.
*Managing health and safety compliance across the premises.
*Conducting regular safety checks and risk assessments.
*Ensuring the school grounds, buildings, and facilities are clean, safe, and operational.
*Supporting with emergency repairs and site-related issues.
*Monitoring site security, alarms, and access control systems.
*Assisting with room setups and site requirements for school events and activities.
*Maintaining accurate records relating to maintenance and compliance.
Requirements
*Previous experience working as a Premises Manager, Site Manager, Facilities Manager, Caretaker, or similar role, ideally within a school or educational setting.
*Good understanding of health and safety regulations and building maintenance.
*Practical maintenance and DIY skills.
*Strong organisational and communication skills.
*Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
*A proactive and flexible approach to work.
Essential Requirements
*Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
*Previous experience in a similar premises or facilities management role.
*Right to work in the UK.
