We’re partnering with a growing, digital-first insurance intermediary to appoint an experienced Head of Compliance on a part-time basis.
This is a standalone leadership role, offering full ownership of the firm’s compliance function. Working closely with the Directors, you will provide both strategic direction and hands-on compliance leadership, ensuring the business continues to meet its FCA regulatory obligations while supporting sustainable commercial growth.
We’re seeking a pragmatic, commercially minded compliance professional who enjoys working within an entrepreneurial SME, where they can influence decision-making, strengthen governance, and build a positive compliance culture.
The Opportunity
As Head of Compliance, you will:
*Lead and develop the firm’s compliance framework and regulatory strategy.
*Champion Consumer Duty, ensuring the business consistently delivers and evidences good customer outcomes.
*Strengthen governance through effective PROD 4 Product Oversight and Governance.
*Lead the firm’s compliance approach to the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR), including Conduct Rules, Certification and Fitness & Propriety requirements.
*Act as the trusted compliance adviser to the Directors and senior leadership team.
*Support business growth by providing commercially focused regulatory advice.
*Build a strong compliance culture that enables the business to grow confidently and responsibly.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead and manage the firm’s compliance and regulatory framework.
*Ensure ongoing compliance with Consumer Duty, embedding customer outcomes into products, distribution, communications and decision-making.
*Oversee and continuously enhance the firm’s PROD 4 Product Governance Framework, ensuring products remain appropriate for their target market throughout their lifecycle.
*Lead compliance oversight of SMCR, including Conduct Rules, Certification processes and Fitness & Propriety assessments.
*Develop, deliver and maintain the Compliance Monitoring Programme.
*Advise Directors on regulatory developments, emerging risks and FCA expectations.
*Ensure compliance with ICOBS, SYSC, PRIN and wider FCA Handbook requirements.
*Review and approve financial promotions.
*Oversee complaints governance, conduct risk and vulnerable customer considerations.
*Maintain and enhance compliancepolicies, procedures and internal controls.
*Support insurer audits, due diligence exercises and regulatory enquiries.
*Provide compliance input into new products, distribution arrangements and business initiatives.
*Deliver compliance training and promote regulatory awareness across the business.
*Foster a positive, collaborative compliance culture that supports both customers and commercial objectives.
What We’re Looking For


We’re looking for an experienced insurance compliance professional with the confidence to lead the compliancefunction within a growing business.


You’ll have:
*Previous experience as a Head of Compliance, ComplianceManager or Senior Complianceprofessional within an FCA-regulated insurance intermediary or broker.
*Strong working knowledge of Consumer Duty and evidencing good customer outcomes.
*Excellent understanding of PROD 4 Product Governance requirements.
*Strong knowledge of SMCR, including Conduct Rules, Certification and Fitness & Propriety requirements.
*Detailed knowledge of ICOBS, SYSC, PRIN and wider FCA regulatory requirements.
*Experience developing and delivering Compliance Monitoring Programmes.
*Experience advising senior stakeholders on regulatory and conduct risk matters.
*A pragmatic, commercially aware approach to compliance.
*Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
*The ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery.
