Full job descriptionProject Accountant / Finance Business Partner
£75,000 - £85,000 + Benefits | 12 Month FTC with a view to becoming permanent | Hybrid (1 day per week in South Manchester)
We’re partnering with a high-growth, PE-backed business to recruit a Project Accountant / Finance Business Partnerinto a newly created role. Following a recent acquisition and with further growth plans ahead, this position offers the opportunity to play a key role in a business undergoing significant change.
This is not a traditional reporting role. Instead, you’ll sit at the heart of a variety of strategic projects, supporting acquisitions, driving improvements in financial reporting and data quality, and partnering closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
For someone who enjoys variety, change and working in a fast-paced environment, this is a rare opportunity to make a genuine impact.
The Opportunity
As Project Accountant, you’ll support a broad range of finance and business-critical initiatives across the Group. You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate financial information, supporting acquisition and integration activity, and helping ensure the business has the insight and data needed to support future growth.
With further acquisition activity anticipated, a strong project pipeline, and increasing demands from investors and senior leadership, this role offers significant scope for development and visibility across the business.
Whilst initially offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, there is a genuine desire for the role to become permanent given the anticipated volume of future projects and long-term growth plans.
Key Responsibilities
*Supporting acquisition activity, including integration projects, completion accounts and earn-out calculations.
*Reviewing historical financial data to improve accuracy, consistency and reporting quality across the Group.
*Performing reconciliations across multiple systems and data sources, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
*Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis.
*Producing financial information and commercial insights for senior stakeholders and investors.
*Supporting a variety of project-based initiatives, reporting improvements and finance transformation activities.
*Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and newly acquired entities.
About You
You’ll be a qualified accountant (ideally ACA) with strong technical foundations and a proactive approach to solving problems.
We’re particularly interested in individuals who have built a broad range of experience since qualifying and enjoy operating in environments where priorities can shift quickly.
You’ll likely demonstrate:
*ACA qualification (or equivalent).
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
*Experience reviewing, validating and reconciling large volumes of financial data.
*The ability to work independently whilst knowing when to seek support or challenge stakeholders.
*Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
*Experience supporting acquisitions, integration’s, change projects or finance transformation initiatives would be advantageous.
*Previous audit experience would be beneficial.
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who can operate at pace. The business is looking for an individual who is comfortable navigating change, managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality work in a fast-moving environment. Experience within a PE-backed, acquisitive or high-growth business would be particularly valuable.
Package
In return, you’ll receive:
*Competitive salary aligned to experience.
*Enhanced holiday entitlement.
*Private healthcare and wellbeing support.
*Life assurance and additional protection benefits.
*Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
*Family-friendly policies.
This opportunity could be particularly attractive for someone who would typically pursue permanent positions but is currently available due to redundancy, completion of a contract, returning from travelling, or another change in circumstances.
