Reed Procurement are looking for an experienced Buyer to join a busy procurement team within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing the procurement of materials to support production, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods. Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will play a key role in supporting operational performance and continuity of supply.
Key Responsibilities
*Raise, process and manage purchase orders using an MRP/ERP system
*Review demand requirements and manage material supply to support production schedules
*Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to ensure cost, quality and delivery targets are achieved
*Expedite orders and proactively manage potential supply issues
*Negotiate pricing, lead times and delivery schedules where appropriate
*Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery, quality or service concerns
*Maintain accurate purchasing data, supplier records and system information
*Liaise with planning, production and finance teams to ensure material availability
*Track deliveries, resolve shortages and manage invoice or pricing discrepancies
*Support stock management and inventory optimisation activities
About You
*Previous experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role
*Experience within a manufacturing or production environment
*Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and purchasing processes
*Experience managing supplier relationships and coordinating material supply
*Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
*Confident communicator able to build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
*Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
