1-2 Month Contract with Potential to Become Permanent
£18 - £23 Per hour
We are currently recruiting for a Credit Controller to join a leading not-for-profit organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced credit professional to play a key role in managing debt recovery, maintaining strong customer relationships, and supporting the organisation’s income collection processes.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external customers, the successful candidate will be responsible for reducing outstanding debt, ensuring accurate cash allocation, and helping to minimise financial risk across the business.
Credit Controller - Duties and Responsibilities:
*Reduce outstanding debt by collecting payments within agreed terms through telephone, email, and written correspondence
*Ensure all cash receipts are accurately allocated and investigate any underpayments, overpayments, or discrepancies
*Reconcile customer accounts regularly to maintain accurate records and resolve outstanding queries
*Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to support timely payment collection
*Arrange and attend meetings with key stakeholders to address payment issues and reduce debt risk
*Review aged debt and prepare reports highlighting balances that may be suitable for write-off under bad debt provisions
*Monitor customer accounts and proactively identify potential credit risks
*Maintain accurate records of collection activity and account status
Credit Controller - Ideal Candidate:
*Minimum of two years’ experience within a Senior Credit Controller role
*Proven experience managing debt recovery and credit control activities within a busy finance environment
*Strong understanding of income processing and accounts receivable functions
*Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
*Strong attention to detail and ability to investigate and resolve account discrepancies
*Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
*Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation
*Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
*Experience within social housing or the not-for-profit sector would be advantageous
*Experience using Unit4 or similar finance systems would be beneficial
*AAT qualification or relevant finance studies would be advantageous
