Job Description:
Full job descriptionThe Supply Register is currently recruiting for a Design & Technology Technician to work within a secondary school in Birmingham, starting in September.
Location: Birmingham
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Contract: Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
The Role:As a DT Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Design & Technology department, ensuring practical lessons run smoothly and that equipment and materials are prepared safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:*Prepare materials, tools and equipment for practical DT lessons.
*Maintain and organise workshops, classrooms and storage areas.
*Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained and stored safely.
*Assist teaching staff during practical lessons where required.
*Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and equipment.
*Carry out routine maintenance of machinery and tools in line with health and safety guidelines.
*Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH and school procedures at all times.
*Dispose of waste materials safely and maintain a clean working environment.
*Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Head of Department or School Leadership Team.
Requirements:*Previous experience in a DT Technician, workshop, engineering, manufacturing or maintenance role is desirable.
*Knowledge of workshop tools, machinery and health and safety procedures.
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
*Two professional references covering the last 24 months.
*Right to work in the UK.
