We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join our team and support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for temporary, contract, and permanent workers.
Working within a fast-paced recruitment environment, you will liaise closely with candidates, clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure payroll information is accurate, payments are processed on time, and all payroll-related queries are resolved efficiently.
Key Responsibilities*Assist with the weekly and monthly processing of payroll for temporary and contract workers.
*Accurately input and validate timesheets, hours worked, holiday pay, expenses, bonuses, and other payroll information.
*Ensure payroll data is received, checked, and processed within agreed deadlines.
*Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.
*Respond to payroll queries from workers, clients, and recruitment consultants in a professional and timely manner.
*Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure all documentation is properly filed.
*Assist with starters, leavers, changes to pay rates, bank details, tax information, and other employee amendments.
*Support the administration of holiday pay, statutory payments, deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
*Work closely with the Finance and Recruitment teams to ensure accurate billing and payroll reconciliation.
Skills & Experience*Previous experience in payroll, finance administration, recruitment administration, or a similar role is desirable.
*Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical accuracy.
*Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
*Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
*Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
*Strong communication and customer-service skills.
*Ability to investigate issues and resolve discrepancies effectively.
*A proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
*Experience working within a recruitment, staffing, or agency environment would be advantageous.
*Knowledge of UK payroll processes, PAYE, National Insurance, holiday pay, and statutory deductions is desirable.
