Full job descriptionDomiciliary Optometrist – Full or Part Time
Location: West London – Ealing, Acton and surrounding areas
Basic Salary: £70,000 FTE
Realistic OTE: £74,200 FTE
Hours: Full-time or part-time, Monday to Friday
Daily Hours: Approximately 9:00am–6:00pm
Patients: Approximately 10–11 per working day
Car Required: No

Insightful Recruitment is working with a well-established and growing domiciliary eyecare provider to recruit an Optometrist for its West London territory.
Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed. Part-time days can be discussed according to your availability, with salary calculated pro rata against the £70,000 full-time package.
Alongside the basic salary, the position offers an achievable performance-related monthly bonus:
*£70,000 FTE basic salary
*A £350 monthly bonus provides an additional £4,200 per year
*Realistic full-time OTE of £74,200
*Top performers can achieve approximately £700 per month in bonus
*This provides an additional £8,400 per year
*Top full-time earning potential of £78,400
Bonus earnings are performance-related. Part-time bonus earnings will depend on performance and the number of days worked.
The opportunity
This role offers the benefits and earning potential of domiciliary optometry without excessive daily travel.
Patient routes are carefully planned within compact local areas. Most appointments are only five to ten minutes—or approximately one mile—apart.
You will typically see around 10–11 patients on each working day, rather than the 20 or more appointments often expected within a busy practice.
The appointment split is approximately:
*70% individual home visits
*30% care-home appointments
*First appointment normally around 9:00am
*Final appointment normally around 5:30pm
*Monday-to-Friday working
You will work in partnership with an experienced Domiciliary Optical Assistant, who will drive between appointments and support the wider patient journey.
You do not need to own or drive a car. Where required, you can travel to an agreed local station and be collected by your Optical Assistant.
Training and support
Previous domiciliary experience is not essential.
You will receive approximately two to three weeks of structured, practical training from an experienced domiciliary Optometrist before working independently.
Continued support includes:
*An established community of domiciliary Optometrists
*Internal CPD
*Ongoing clinical support and development
*Guidance with unusual or complex clinical cases
*Training in adapting eye examinations for patients with additional needs
*Regular communication with experienced clinical colleagues
Although you will work independently once trained, you will remain part of a supportive clinical team.
About you
You must be a GOC-registered Optometrist with strong clinical and communication skills.
Ideally, you will have at least one year’s post-qualification experience. However, newly qualified Optometrists and those with approximately six months’ experience may also be considered if they demonstrate the required confidence, clinical competence and communication skills.
You should be:
