Full job descriptionReed Talent Solutions are recruiting for experienced Police Staff Investigators (PIP1 and PIP2 Accredited) to join a Local Policing Action Team based in Hampshire (Basingstoke, Portsmouth and Southampton). These are initial 12-month contracts based on site at various locations in Hampshire with holiday pay paid on top of hourly rates + benefits, successful candidates will need to undergo the relevant vetting process.
Rates:
*PIP1 Accredited: £17.42 per hour
*PIP2 Accredited: £19.19 per hour
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated investigative function supporting Local Policing and Reactive CID teams. Successful candidates will play a vital role in progressing serious and complex investigations, ensuring timely evidential opportunities are secured and delivering the highest standards of service to victims.
The team will support investigations across a range of crime types, including serious offences and sexual offences, providing essential investigative assistance to Officers in Case (OICs) and detective teams.
The Role
As a Police Staff Investigator, you will undertake a wide range of investigative activities to support criminal investigations from initial enquiry through to case progression.
Duties will include:
*Conducting CCTV recovery, viewing and evidential assessment.
*Completing house-to-house enquiries.
*Obtaining witness statements and evidential accounts.
*Gathering, reviewing and analysing digital and third-party material.
*Collecting intelligence, evidence and investigation material from a range of sources.
*Assessing and evaluating evidence to support investigative decision-making.
*Liaising with officers, investigators and partner agencies.
*Supporting enquiries into serious and complex criminal investigations.
*Completing relevant investigation documentation and records in line with force policies.
Case Holding Opportunities
There is potential for suitably experienced candidates to undertake investigative case holding responsibilities.
Where case holding is required, responsibilities may include:
*Identifying and planning investigative actions.
*Pursuing all reasonable lines of enquiry.
*Managing investigations from allocation through to conclusion.
*Interviewing suspects and witnesses.
*Applying relevant investigative powers.
*Undertaking search and custody-related procedures.
*Managing evidential opportunities and case progression.
*Completing victim risk assessments and victim care plans.
*Ensuring investigations are conducted proportionately and in accordance with legislation and policy.
Essential Requirements
All applicants must hold either:
*PIP1 Accreditation, or
*PIP2 Accreditation
Evidence of accreditation must be provided.
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:
*Previous investigative experience within policing or a law enforcement environment.
*Experience gathering and assessing evidential material.
*Strong report-writing and communication skills.
*Ability to manage competing priorities and workloads.
*Experience working with victims, witnesses and partner agencies.
*Knowledge of criminal investigations and relevant legislation.
