Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe’re currently looking for an experienced CNC Router Operator to join a busy and established manufacturing operation.
This role would suit someone with strong hands-on CNC router experience who enjoys working independently, taking a job from initial set-up through to finished component and resolving machining challenges along the way.
You’ll be joining a practical, fast-paced production environment where quality, accuracy and efficiency are important. We’re looking for an operator who understands CNC machining beyond simply loading and running programs – someone who can set machines correctly, make programming adjustments, select the right tooling and use their experience to keep production moving.
There will also be opportunities to share your knowledge with other operators and contribute to improving working methods across the CNC area.
What You’ll Be Doing
*Set, program and operate CNC routers to produce components in line with production requirements.
*Work from engineering drawings, job sheets and manufacturing specifications.
*Prepare machines for each job, including tooling selection and machine set-up.
*Adjust CNC programs and machining parameters to achieve the required finish and tolerances.
*Determine suitable feeds, speeds and cutting methods based on materials and job requirements.
*Check components during and after machining to ensure they meet the required quality standards.
*Manage your workload against production priorities and scheduled completion dates.
*Spot potential machining problems early and take appropriate corrective action.
*Troubleshoot issues relating to programs, tooling, materials and machine performance.
*Support fault diagnosis and work with maintenance where machine-related problems arise.
*Complete routine machine checks and highlight maintenance requirements before they impact production.
*Keep production records up to date and communicate job progress or potential delays.
*Share CNC knowledge and good working practices with other members of the production team.
*Work in accordance with site health & safety, quality and manufacturing procedures.
*Keep the CNC working area clean, organised and ready for production.
What We’re Looking For
*Proven experience setting and operating CNC routers.
*The ability to program CNC machinery and confidently amend existing programs.
*Strong knowledge of cutting tools, machining techniques, feeds and speeds.
*Experience working from technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
*A good understanding of tolerances, component quality and inspection requirements.
*The ability to diagnose machining problems and find practical solutions.
*Good attention to detail and a consistent approach to producing quality work.
*The confidence to manage your own workload and changing production priorities.
*A practical, proactive approach to machine and production issues.
*Good communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge with colleagues.
*A strong understanding of safe working practices within a manufacturing environment.
