A Wembley-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced PRSO Officer to support the discharge of homelessness duties through Private Rented Sector Offers.
Key Responsibilities
*Assess households owed a full housing duty and determine suitable accommodation.
*Conduct affordability and income/expenditure assessments.
*Make PRSOs in line with the Housing Act 1996, Localism Act 2011 and related legislation.
*Draft and issue statutory homelessness decision letters (S184/S193).
*Manage complex homelessness cases, including legal challenges and complaints.
*Build strong relationships with landlords, agents and partner organisations.
*Conduct property and suitability visits where required.
Essential Experience & Knowledge
*Extensive knowledge of Housing Act 1996 Parts VI & VII and homelessness legislation.
*Experience discharging homelessness duties through the Private Rented Sector.
*Strong understanding of welfare benefits, affordability assessments and the Benefit Cap.
*Experience within a Local Authority Housing Needs/Homelessness team.
*Excellent customer service, negotiation and case management skills.
*Ability to manage complex cases and communicate effectively with legal representatives and stakeholders.
