Butler Rose Public Practice is delighted to be supporting a long-established Chartered Certified Accountancy firm in Bedford with the recruitment of a Semi-Senior Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA or ACCA studier with at least two + years experience in a UK practice to join a close-knit team providing accounts, tax, bookkeeping and VAT services to a varied client base. The role offers broad exposure across accounting and tax work, alongside opportunities to develop your technical and client management skills.


Key Responsibilities
*Prepare year-end statutory accounts for a range of clients and business entities
*Prepare VAT returns, personal tax returns and related compliance work
*Complete bookkeeping assignments in line with Making Tax Digital requirements
*Maintain accurate accounting records, reconciliations and client files
*Respond to client queries relating to bookkeeping, accounts, tax and financial processes
*Support client onboarding and integration, escalating issues to managers where appropriate
*Manage assignments against agreed deadlines, budgets and fee expectations
*Monitor budgets, record time accurately and maintain workflow and practice management systems
*Assist with taxation matters and ad hoc accounting and tax projects
*Use a range of accounting and practice software, including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
*Complete relevant technical and software training and contribute to improvements in systems, processes and client service

Key Requirements
*Minimum of 3 years experience within an accountancy practice
*Studying towards ACA, ACCA or minimum AAT qualified
*Experience preparing statutory accounts for a range of business entities
*Working knowledge of VAT and personal tax compliance
*Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
*Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
*Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Ability to work independently and use initiative
