Location: North London
Rate: £31.98 per hour umbrella
Contract: 3 months ongoing
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm
Working Pattern: Full-time
Start Date: ASAP
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Air Conditioning and HVAC Engineer to join a public sector Facilities Management team in North London.
The role will involve carrying out planned preventative maintenance, servicing, reactive repairs, fault-finding and minor installation works across a range of corporate buildings, schools and public buildings.
You will work as part of an M&E team, helping to maintain safe, comfortable and energy-efficient buildings.
Key Responsibilities*Service, maintain and repair split, multi-split, VRV/VRF and DX systems.
*Maintain heat pumps, fan coil units, AHUs and supply/extract ventilation systems.
*Diagnose faults and replace components including compressors, expansion valves, fan motors, PCBs, sensors and contactors.
*Carry out refrigerant leak detection, recovery, pressure testing and system evacuation in line with F-Gas requirements.
*Complete commissioning and seasonal performance checks where required.
*Carry out AHU inspections, including filter and belt replacement, coil cleaning and condensate/drain checks.
*Inspect fans, motors, ventilation equipment and associated controls.
*Support with associated mechanical plant where competent, including pumps, pressurisation units, calorifiers and heating controls.
*Identify underlying faults and recommend appropriate remedial works.
*Accurately record work, findings, materials and completion details using CAFM systems and mobile technology.
*Manage and prioritise an allocated PPM and reactive workload.
*Liaise professionally with building users, caretakers, contractors and colleagues.
*Complete dynamic risk assessments and follow permit-to-work, working-at-height and other relevant safety procedures.
*Maintain the work vehicle, tools and equipment to the required standard.
Essential Requirements*NVQ Level 3 or equivalent recognised qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
*Current F-Gas Category 1 certification.
*Practical experience maintaining split, multi-split and VRV/VRF systems.
*Experience working with AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, heat pumps and commercial HVAC equipment.
*Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
*Experience carrying out both PPM and reactive maintenance.
*Ability to work independently in occupied buildings.
*Full UK driving licence.
*Comfortable using mobile devices or CAFM systems to update job records.
