We are working with a leading pensions business that is looking to appoint an experienced Trustee professional to join their growing team as a Trustee Director.
You will take day-to-day responsibility for a number of schemes, working closely with trustees, clients and advisers to ensure effective governance and decision-making.
The role will provide exposure to a wide variety of trustee matters and projects, including funding discussions, buy-ins and buy-outs, liability management exercises, corporate restructurings and wider scheme governance. You will also work alongside experienced colleagues on more complex projects and have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and development of the trustee services business.
Key Responsibilities:
*Act as a Trustee Director across a portfolio of occupational pension schemes, taking day-to-day responsibility for the effective running and governance of those schemes.
*Build strong relationships with trustees, clients, advisers and other key stakeholders.
*Prepare for and lead trustee meetings, ensuring effective decision-making and appropriate governance.
*Work alongside other trustee professionals on schemes where multiple trustees are involved, including acting as chair or co-trustee on committees and working groups where appropriate.
*Provide guidance and support to trustees on a broad range of governance, regulatory, funding and scheme-related matters.
*Support schemes through key projects and transactions, including buy-ins and buy-outs, funding discussions, liability management exercises and corporate restructurings.
*Work closely with advisers and service providers to ensure appropriate advice is obtained and actions are followed through effectively.
*Keep up to date with developments across the pensions industry and ensure relevant technical and regulatory information is communicated appropriately.
*Support wider trustee and governance projects, including adviser and service provider reviews.
*Contribute to the development of the trustee services offering and support business growth through maintaining strong external relationships.
*Share knowledge and experience with colleagues and contribute to the development of the wider trustee team.
*Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality across all aspects of the role.
Skills & ExperienceRequired:
*Strong existing experience within pension trusteeship is essential.
*Significant experience working with occupational pension schemes and a good understanding of trustee responsibilities and governance.
*Previous experience acting as a trustee, professional trustee, trustee secretary or in a similar senior trustee-facing capacity.
*Experience managing relationships with trustees, clients, advisers and other professional stakeholders.
*Comfortable operating at board level and contributing to, or leading, trustee meetings.
*Good understanding of the wider UK pensions market and the issues currently facing pension schemes.
*Experience of working on, or exposure to, projects such as buy-ins/buy-outs, funding exercises, liability management or corporate restructuring would be advantageous.
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage with a range of stakeholders.
*Commercially aware, with an interest in contributing to the growth and development of a trustee services business.
*Ability to take ownership of a portfolio and work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
*Professional, credible and confident when dealing with senior stakeholders.
*Relevant professional qualifications within pensions, actuarial, legal or a related discipline would be advantageous, but strong practical trustee experience is the key requirement.
