We are working with a leading pensions consultancy that is looking to appoint a Senior Actuarial Consultant to join their growing pensions actuarial team.
You will work closely with trustee and corporate clients, providing strategic advice across areas including valuations, funding, risk management, pension accounting, risk transfer and wider scheme strategy. The role will also involve working closely with colleagues across the business and supporting the development of junior team members.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships and play an important role in delivering high-quality strategic advice to a diverse portfolio of DB pension schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
*Take lead responsibility for a portfolio of Defined Benefit pension scheme clients.
*Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with trustee and corporate clients.
*Lead client meetings and provide clear, commercially focused actuarial advice.
*Oversee and deliver actuarial projects including valuations, funding reviews and scheme strategy exercises.
*Provide advice on pension risk management and risk transfer opportunities, including buy-ins and buy-outs.
*Lead pension accounting and related actuarial reporting exercises.
*Develop strategic advice based on the individual circumstances and objectives of each scheme.
*Review and oversee technical analysis, calculations, reports and client deliverables.
*Work collaboratively with colleagues across actuarial, investment, administration and other specialist teams.
*Provide guidance, support and technical development to more junior members of the team.
*Contribute to business development activity, identifying opportunities to develop existing relationships and support new business.
*Keep up to date with developments across the pensions market, legislation and regulation.
*Take an active role in the continued development of the actuarial consulting team and wider business.
Skills, Experience & Qualities Required:
*Strong experience within UK Defined Benefit pensions.
*Previous experience working in an actuarial consulting environment.
*Good technical understanding of DB pension schemes, funding and actuarial principles.
*Proven experience working directly with trustee and/or corporate clients.
*Experience managing client relationships and taking responsibility for client delivery.
*Strong experience across areas such as valuations, funding, pension accounting, risk management or scheme strategy.
*Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to operate at trustee and senior client level.
*Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
*Ability to lead projects, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
*Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues.
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
*Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership and responsibility for client relationships.
*Relevant actuarial qualifications or significant progress towards qualification would be advantageous.
