We are working with a well-established facilities and maintenance provider seeking a Mechanical Specialist to join their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical professional looking for a varied, hands-on role supporting the maintenance, repair and improvement of building services across multiple sites.
The Role:
As a Mechanical Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring mechanical systems and associated plant operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with relevant standards. Working both independently and as part of a wider estates team, you will support planned and reactive maintenance activities across a diverse property portfolio.
Day-to-Day Duties:
*Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant and equipment.
*Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to a range of mechanical building services systems.
*Maintain heating, ventilation, hot and cold water systems, pumps, pipework and associated plant.
*Respond to breakdowns and maintenance requests within agreed service levels.
*Conduct routine inspections and testing to ensure systems remain operational and compliant.
*Liaise with contractors and specialist suppliers when required.
*Complete maintenance records, job sheets and compliance documentation accurately.
*Support minor installation and refurbishment projects.
*Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures and statutory requirements.
*Provide technical advice and support to colleagues and site stakeholders.
Essential Criteria:
To be considered for this position, applicants must demonstrate:
*Recognised mechanical engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, BTEC, HNC or equivalent.
*Proven experience working in a building services, facilities management, estates or maintenance environment.
*Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills across mechanical systems.
*Knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance processes.
*Understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
*Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
*Competent IT skills for completing maintenance records and reports.
*Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
*Experience working across multiple sites.
*Knowledge of healthcare, public sector or commercial environments.
*Experience supervising contractors and specialist service providers.
