Prospero Teaching is recruiting confident and adaptable General Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across the Southampton area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting schools with day-to-day, short-term, and long-term cover requirements.
As a General Cover Supervisor, you will supervise lessons across a variety of subjects in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with learning and complete the work that has been set. You will play a vital role in maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students’ progress throughout the school day.
This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, tutors, youth workers, and experienced education professionals looking to develop their experience within secondary education.
The Role:
*Supervise lessons across a range of subjects at KS3 and KS4
*Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions
*Ensure students remain on task and engaged with learning
*Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
*Support students with lesson activities where appropriate
*Maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment
*Provide clear feedback to teaching staff following lessons
*Build positive relationships with students and school staff
*Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
*Experience working with young people
*Confident leading groups of students independently
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Calm, professional, and adaptable approach
*Able to manage classroom behaviour effectively
*Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
*Graduates and aspiring teachers encouraged to apply
*Previous experience in education, coaching, tutoring, or youth work beneficial
Contract Details:
*Position: General Cover Supervisor
*Location: Southampton
*Start Date: ASAP
*Working Pattern: Full-time or flexible opportunities available
*Pay Rate: Up to £130 per day
*Key Stages: KS3 & KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
*Experience working with young people essential
*Classroom experience desirable but not essential
*Safeguarding training can be provided
