Full job descriptionFinance Manager - Plymouth - £45,000 - Full-time, Permanent
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to be working with a brand-new client, a successful and growing domiciliary care business based in Plymouth, who are looking to appoint a Finance Manager to take ownership of their day-to-day finance function.
This is a genuinely hands-on Finance Manager role, combining responsibility for the full accounting lifecycle with the opportunity to supervise a small finance team.
Key responsibilities will include:
-Supervising and supporting a small finance team, including an Accounts Apprentice and Payroll colleague
-Taking ownership of the purchase ledger, including supplier queries, invoice processing, coding and approvals
-Managing the sales ledger and sales invoicing
-Completing regular bank reconciliations
-Managing cash flow and preparing cash forecasts
-Managing credit control and monitoring outstanding debts
-Preparing schedules of payments for approval
-Managing company credit cards and petty cash
-Supporting the monthly management accounts process, including checking control accounts
-Managing intercompany recharges across the four companies
-Producing monthly management accounts for review
-Supporting payroll processes, including checking payroll and providing cover for the wages journal
-Taking responsibility for budgeting and on-going financial forecasting
-Dealing with ad hoc finance requirements and queries, including ONS returns
-Identifying opportunities to improve processes and ensure the finance function operates efficiently
We’re looking for an experienced all-round finance professional who is comfortable taking ownership of a busy finance function and getting involved in the detail. You’ll ideally have previous experience of supervising or supporting a small finance team and be confident across transactional finance, reconciliations, cash management and management accounts. Experience with Xeroisdesirable alongside a good understanding of the wider accounting lifecycle.
You’ll need to be organised, commercially aware and confident working independently, whilst also being happy to roll your sleeves up and get stuck into the day-to-day numbers. This would suit an experienced Finance Manager, Management Accountant or Assistant Accountant ready to take the next step into a role with genuine responsibility and ownership.
