Full job descriptionTrainee Financial Planner
London | Starting Salary from £33,000 + Up to 12% Bonus
Are you serious about becoming a Financial Planner and looking for a business with a proven pathway into advice?
A growing Chartered financial planning firm is recruiting its next academy intake.
This is not a conventional graduate scheme. The business is equally interested in career changers, experienced financial services administrators, existing trainees whose development has stalled and people who have taken a less traditional route into the profession.
What matters most is your resilience, your motivation and whether you genuinely want to build a long-term career as a Financial Planner.
The programme
You will follow an established development programme overseen by a dedicated Adviser Development Manager.
The initial stage involves working closely with the Client Service Team so that you understand the administrative and operational foundations of good financial advice. You will then build your technical knowledge, client-facing capability and commercial skills through practical experience, structured training and exposure to experienced advisers.
Your development will include:
*Learning the fundamentals of client administration and servicing
*Supporting Financial Planners with meeting preparation and follow-up work
*Developing your knowledge of pensions, investments and tax wrappers
*Working towards the CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning
*Building confidence communicating with clients
*Developing relationship-building and networking skills
*Attending regular sessions through the firm’s in-house academy
*Progressing towards adviser status and, longer term, Chartered status
What we are looking for
You do not need to be a graduate, but you will need to demonstrate:
*A clear and credible motivation for becoming a Financial Planner
*Resilience and the ability to respond constructively to setbacks
*A strong work ethic
*Excellent organisation and attention to detail
*Strong written and verbal communication skills
*The confidence to take ownership of your development
*A willingness to complete professional qualifications
*A genuine interest in financial markets and personal financial planning
*Evidence that you are looking for a long-term career rather than simply another job
A good administrative background would be valuable. Previous financial services experience or CII qualifications will strengthen your application.
The expected timeframe to reach the initial adviser stage is approximately 12–18 months, although progression will depend on individual performance and readiness.
Package and working arrangements
*Starting salary from £33,000 (£36,000 if Level 4 Qualified)
*Discretionary bonus of up to 12%
*Funded professional qualifications
*Pension
*Private medical insurance
*Life assurance
*Income protection
*Structured adviser-development programme
*Support towards Chartered Financial Planner status
*Hybrid working following successful completion of probation
