Insightful Recruitment is working with an established and growing domiciliary eyecare provider to recruit an experienced Optical Assistant for its Ealing territory.
Alongside a basic salary of £28,000, the role offers an achievable performance-related bonus:
*Typical monthly bonus of approximately £350–£400
*Realistic annual bonus of £4,200–£4,800
*An additional £3,120 annual car allowance is available if you use your own vehicle
*Alternatively, a company-car option is available.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys optics but would prefer to move away from a traditional practice-based environment. You will work closely with an Optometrist, supporting patients in their own homes and within care-home settings.
Routes are carefully planned within a compact local area, with appointments generally only five to ten minutes apart. A typical day will involve supporting approximately 10–11 patients, with around 70% of appointments taking place in individual homes and 30% within care homes.


The role

Your responsibilities will include:
*Driving the Optometrist between locally arranged appointments
*Supporting approximately 10–11 patients each day
*Providing a warm, professional and reassuring patient experience
*Communicating confidently with patients, relatives and care-home employees
*Assisting patients with frame and lens selection
*Explaining products and recommendations clearly
*Supporting the Optometrist throughout the patient journey
*Handling questions, concerns and complaints calmly and professionally
*Completing relevant administration and maintaining accurate records
*Representing the business professionally within patients’ homes


About you

Previous optical experience is required.
You should be:
*A confident and compassionate communicator
*Comfortable supporting elderly and vulnerable patients
*Calm, patient and adaptable
*Commercially aware and confident discussing products
*Organised and able to manage a busy daily route
*Comfortable driving around all day
*Reliable, professional and able to use your initiative
A full UK driving licence is essential. Candidates with an automatic-only licence can be considered, as an automatic company vehicle is available. You do not necessarily need to own a car.
