Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
Job Type: Permanent
Are you an experienced Optical Assistant who is highly organised, confident with people and ready to take greater ownership of your working day?
Insightful Recruitment is working with a progressive domiciliary eyecare provider that delivers high-quality eyecare predominantly within care homes.
This is much more than a traditional Optical Assistant position. You will play a central role in running each clinic, supporting the Optometrist and ensuring every patient receives a calm, comfortable and professional experience.
The Role
Approximately three days each week will be spent running clinics alongside an Optometrist. The remaining days will generally focus on deliveries, fittings and aftercare.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Organising and setting up mobile optical clinics
*Liaising with care-home managers and team members
*Welcoming patients and helping them feel calm and comfortable
*Supporting patients who may be living with dementia
*Completing appropriate pre-screening and delegated clinical tasks
*Providing clear handovers to the Optometrist
*Discussing frames, lenses and coatings based on genuine patient needs
*Completing measurements, fittings, deliveries and aftercare
*Maintaining accurate information through a paperless system
*Looking after clinical equipment and ensuring clinics run efficiently
Clinics generally operate between approximately 9:30am and 4:30pm, although travel is required before and after.
About You
You will ideally have previous optical experience and be:
*Exceptionally organised and reliable
*Warm, patient and confident with people
*Comfortable supporting older and vulnerable patients
*Commercially aware without using pressure-selling techniques
*Confident discussing frames, lenses and coatings
*Comfortable using technology and paperless systems
*Able to manage your own time and changing priorities
*Coachable and keen to develop
*Proactive, professional and prepared to work hard
*Able to drive a manual vehicle and meet the company’s vehicle-insurance requirements
Training
You will initially complete approximately two to three weeks of fully funded training in Glasgow. Accommodation and expenses will be covered.
This will be followed by approximately one week of shadowing within your own working area before you take responsibility for your clinics.
The Package
*£29,000–£30,000 basic salary
*Potential total earnings of approximately £37,000–£49,000
*Performance-related earnings that reward organisation, consistency and excellent clinic delivery
*Full-time Monday-to-Friday working
*No regular weekend working
*Branded manual company vehicle available
*Alternative car allowance or mileage arrangement may be considered
*20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
*Fully funded training and accommodation
*Varied working days with genuine responsibility
*Opportunity to make a meaningful difference to patients’ lives
