A Reading-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Works Planner / Technical Support Officer to join its busy Housing Property Services Team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised administrator with experience in housing repairs, maintenance scheduling and diary management to play a key role in supporting the delivery of responsive repairs and planned maintenance services across the council’s housing stock.
The Role
Working from the council’s offices at 19 Bennet Road, Reading (RG2 0QX), you will be responsible for coordinating repairs, managing works orders and ensuring effective communication between tenants, contractors and operational teams.
This is a fast-paced role where strong organisational skills and a customer-focused approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Raising, allocating and closing repairs and maintenance works orders
Planning and scheduling repairs appointments and inspections
Managing operatives’ diaries and workload allocation
Liaising with tenants, contractors and internal teams to ensure works are completed efficiently
Monitoring job progress and updating records accurately
Producing reports, correspondence and meeting notes
Maintaining housing repairs databases and job management systems
Supporting performance monitoring and customer satisfaction reporting
Delivering excellent customer service and resolving queries professionally
Essential Requirements
Strong administration and coordination experience
Previous experience within housing repairs, property maintenance or a local authority environment
Experience using diary management or repairs scheduling systems
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
Confident using Microsoft Office and job management systems
Ability to work effectively within a busy team environment
What’s On Offer?
