The Role
This is a varied and supportive position suited for someone looking to grow within personal and corporate tax. You will assist in preparing tax computations, liaise with HMRC, and help manage a portfolio of small clients. The role aims to provide practical experience and opportunities to develop technical skills and client management abilities.
*Prepare corporate and personal tax computations supporting HMRC submissions
*Assist in drafting proposals for new client engagements
*Coordinate tax payments, loss relief claims, and capital allowances
*Keep up-to-date with UK tax legislation and regulations
*Communicate with HMRC on behalf of clients, both orally and in writing
*Handle administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and maintaining tax documentation
*Liaise with the audit and accounting teams to ensure integrated service delivery
*Manage a small portfolio of clients, ensuring timely filings and identifying tax-saving opportunities
*Contribute positively to the team environment, supporting colleagues and taking ownership of tasks
The Person
A capable professional with solid UK tax experience, eager to develop further, and committed to delivering high-quality service. The right candidate will be well-organised, commercially aware, and a good communicator.
Mandatory
*At least 2 years’ experience within a UK tax team
*Studying towards a tax qualification or ATT qualified
*Strong technical knowledge of UK corporation and personal tax
*Proficient in Excel and MS Office; familiarity with tax software preferred
*Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
*Effective communicator, both written and orally
Preferred
*CTA qualification or progress towards it
*Experience with tax planning, compliance, and HMRC procedures
*Exposure to accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks
*Knowledge of tax automation and reporting tools
*Experience working in SME or practice environments
