Job Description:
Full job descriptionOur client is looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join their busy finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong accounts receivable and credit control experience who enjoys building relationships, resolving queries, and ensuring the smooth management of customer accounts.
Working as part of a supportive finance function, you will take responsibility for monitoring customer credit exposure, processing incoming payments, managing outstanding debt, and supporting the wider accounts team with a range of finance administration duties.
Salary £32k - £35k DOE
14 month contract
Key Responsibilities
Setting up and maintaining new customer accounts in line with company credit procedures.
Reviewing customer creditworthiness and updating account information as required.
Monitoring customer credit limits and highlighting any concerns to management.
Processing and allocating payments received via bank transfer, direct debit, cheque, and card payments.
Reconciling payment transactions and ensuring accurate posting within the accounting system.
Producing customer statements and ensuring they are issued in a timely manner.
Managing aged debt and proactively chasing outstanding balances.
Investigating and resolving customer account queries, discrepancies, and payment disputes.
Assisting with the preparation of reports relating to overdue accounts, credit limits, and customer payment trends.
Supporting month-end processes and maintaining accurate customer account records.
Liaising with both internal departments and external customers to ensure high levels of service.
Undertaking additional finance and administration duties as required.
About You
Previous experience in a Credit Control role, ideally with at least 2 years’ experience.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships and negotiate effectively.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy.
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve customer queries professionally and efficiently.
Competent user of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Experience using accounting software would be advantageous.
Self-motivated, proactive and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Customer-focused with a professional and positive approach.
