Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to manage an 18-week extension project at a live school in Manchester.
The project will involve both build and fit-out works, and we are looking for a capable, hands-on Site Manager who can take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site and drive the programme through to a successful handover.
Health & Safety is the number one priority for this role. As the project is within a school environment, we need someone with a strong track record of maintaining excellent site standards and managing works safely within an occupied/sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities*Day-to-day management of the construction site
*Maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety
*Managing and coordinating subcontractors and trades
*Driving the programme and ensuring key deadlines are achieved
*Managing both build and fit-out activities
*Site inductions, RAMS reviews and toolbox talks
*Maintaining site records and documentation
*Quality control, snagging and preparation for handover
*Liaising with the project team, client and other stakeholders
*Ensuring the site remains safe, organised and professional throughout the works
Essential RequirementsCandidates must hold:
*Enhanced DBS
*SMSTS
*CSCS
*First Aid at Work
You should also have demonstrable experience managing construction and fit-out projects, ideally within schools, education or other live environments.
This is initially an 18-week freelance assignment starting 28 September 2026, with a potential opportunity to move into a permanent position for the right person following successful completion of the project.
