York | Monday to Friday | 8:00am to 4:00pm | Temporary Assignment - Up to 3 Months
Reed Further Education are recruiting for an experienced Baker to join a busy catering team within a well-established college in the York area.
This is a temporary position covering a long-term sickness absence and is expected to run for up to three months, starting Tuesday 8th September.
The Role
This is not a traditional bread-making position. The focus of the role is on producing high-quality cakes, tray bakes and confectionery products in volume for the college’s catering operation.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Producing cakes, tray bakes and confectionery items to a high standard
*Preparing products in larger volumes to meet daily demand
*Portioning, bagging and labelling finished products
*Maintaining excellent food hygiene, allergen and food safety standards
*Ensuring all products are prepared and stored in line with relevant regulations
What We’re Looking For
To be considered for this role, you will have:
*NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds qualification in Bakery, Professional Cookery, or a related discipline
*Level 2 Food Safety qualification
*Previous bakery, pastry or confectionery production experience
*A strong understanding of food hygiene and allergen control
*Willingness to complete the college’s allergen awareness training
