Job Description:
Full job descriptionOpportunity for Employment lawyers from NQ - 8 PQE to join the market-leading London team of a highly regarded UK law firm.
The firm
Our client is a leading UK law firm with an outstanding reputation for advising major businesses and senior individuals on complex and high-profile matters.
The firm has a strong national and international presence and is particularly well known for its work with businesses operating across innovative, fast-growing and creative industries.
The firm has experienced significant growth in recent years while maintaining a genuinely people-focused culture, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, career development and work-life balance.
The team
The new hires will join one of the UK’s leading Employment practices, consistently recognised at the highest level by the major legal directories.
The team advises an impressive client base ranging from major UK and international businesses to senior executives, handling a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
The practice has considerable strength and depth and undertakes sophisticated employment work spanning complex litigation, senior exits, strategic advisory matters, transactional support and day-to-day employment issues.
There is also a significant international element to the team’s work, with lawyers regularly advising clients on complex cross-border employment matters.
The role
The firm is looking to make two hires into its generalist London Employment team, appointing at both Associate and Senior Associate level.
The opportunities are open to Employment lawyers with approximately 1 - 8 PQE, with applications also considered from particularly strong NQs approaching 1 PQE.
The team is specifically looking for technically strong generalists with experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment work, rather than lawyers whose practices have become focused on one particular area.
The new hires will work closely with recognised leaders in the Employment market and gain exposure to a genuinely broad mix of respondent, senior executive, contentious and non-contentious work.
This will include:
*Advising major employers on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters
*Acting on complex Employment Tribunal and other employment litigation
*Advising senior executives on employment-related matters and exits
*Providing strategic employment advice to businesses on complex and sensitive workplace issues
*Supporting clients on the employment aspects of corporate transactions and other projects
*Managing matters and developing direct client relationships, with responsibility increasing in line with seniority
*Working alongside colleagues on international and cross-border employment matters
*Supporting business development and knowledge-sharing initiatives, including seminars, training and thought leadership
*At Senior Associate level, taking increased responsibility for matter management, client relationships and supporting more junior members of the team
Required
*UK qualified Solicitor with approximately 1 - 8 PQE, or a strong NQ approaching 1 PQE
*Strong generalist employment experience gained within a leading law firm or highly regarded specialist Employment practice
*Experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment matters
*Exposure to respondent/employer work and senior executive matters
Reasons to apply
*Join one of the UK’s leading and highest-ranked Employment practices
*Excellent quality work spanning complex contentious and non-contentious matters
*Genuine opportunities for career development and internal progression
*Highly supportive, friendly and collegiate working environment
*Strong emphasis on employee wellbeing and maintaining a healthy work-life balance
*Low chargeable-hours target compared with much of the wider City market
To apply, contact Emily Donnell at Birchrose Associates for a confidential discussion.
