About the Role
Reed Further Education are working with a leading education provider in South Yorkshire to recruit a Plant Science Trainer/Assessor on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate industry professional to play a key role in delivering and developing plant science provision, with a particular focus on Horticulture, across study programmes, apprenticeships and adult learning courses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging practical and theoretical training, supporting learners through assessment and pastoral guidance, and helping to maintain and develop commercial horticultural operations on site.
Key Responsibilities*Deliver high-quality teaching, training and assessment across plant science programmes, apprenticeships and adult courses
*Support learners through tutorials, progress reviews and pastoral care
*Deliver both classroom-based and practical sessions, online and in person
*Assess learners in line with awarding body requirements and qualification standards
*Develop learning materials and contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation
*Maintain horticultural facilities including planting areas and polytunnels
*Support the commercial plant sales operation and growing activities
*Build and maintain relationships with employers and industry partners
*Assist with community and seasonal events linked to the curriculum
*Contribute to the growth and development of plant science, apprenticeship and short course provision
The Ideal Candidate*Holds an Assessor Qualification (essential)
*Holds a Level 3 qualification in a Plant Science-related subject such as Horticulture, Plant Science or Countryside Management
*Has strong knowledge of plant biodiversity and plant science practices
*Has experience delivering training, teaching or assessment within an educational setting
*Demonstrates excellent communication and learner engagement skills
*Has experience supporting a range of learners, from school leavers to adult students
*Understands apprenticeship delivery and assessment processes
*Has knowledge of NPTC/Licence to Practice qualifications and/or Lantra qualifications
*Can work effectively as part of a busy team and manage competing priorities
*Is comfortable working outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions
