We are seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join our team, ensuring the smooth operation and security of our college campuses. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment for both staff and students.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Participate in the shift rota to provide Estates and Facilities Assistance across all campuses during operational hours.
*Manage the opening and security of college premises, ensuring both premises and equipment are secure throughout the day.
*Prepare rooms for use, whether for curriculum activities or meetings, and assist with room moves or furniture re-arrangement as needed.
*Maintain the cleanliness of college buildings and grounds, including the removal of refuse and emptying of bins.
*Promote general health and safety by keeping corridors and fire exits clear of any spills, trips, or hazards.
*Complete compliance and health and safety checks in a timely and formatted manner.
*Provide efficient porterage services, ensuring the swift delivery of goods, documents, post, and parcels to the correct areas.
*Work with contractors as instructed to support group objectives on Group premises.
*Conduct maintenance and repairs where appropriate, suggest improvements to the general environment, and support risk assessments and maintenance programmes.
*Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks as scheduled.
*Respond to college emergencies, including evacuating buildings during fire drills and directing emergency services as necessary.
*Provide additional resource coverage for exams and other activities as directed.
*Offer First Aid support as part of the Group’s First Aid function.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in a caretaker or similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
*Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
*Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving furniture.
*Good organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
*Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with staff and external contractors.
*First Aid certification is preferred.
