Health & Safety Manager Somerset | Multi-Site Role
Up to £38,490 per annum (30 hours per week)
Full-Time Considered: £42,839 - £46,326 per annum DOE
Permanent | All Year Round
Prospero Teaching is delighted to be working with a highly respected education organisation in Somerset to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Health & Safety professional to take ownership of health, safety and compliance across a large multi-site educational environment. The successful candidate will act as the designated competent person for Health & Safety, providing strategic leadership, expert guidance and compliance assurance whilst driving a positive safety culture across multiple schools.
We are seeking a proactive and influential individual who can operate at both strategic and operational levels, working closely with senior leaders to ensure statutory compliance and best practice are maintained.
The RoleAs Health & Safety Manager, you will:
*Act as the designated competent person for Health & Safety
*Lead the development and implementation of Health & Safety strategy
*Develop and maintain policies, procedures and compliance frameworks
*Conduct audits, inspections and compliance monitoring activities
*Oversee accident, incident and near-miss investigations
*Advise senior leadership teams on statutory obligations and risk management
*Monitor legislative changes and ensure organisational compliance
*Deliver training and guidance to staff across multiple sites
*Produce compliance reports and risk updates for senior stakeholders
*Support the development of a positive and proactive safety culture
The Ideal CandidateYou will have:
Essential*NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification
*Significant experience in a senior Health & Safety position
*Experience working within a complex multi-site organisation
*Proven experience advising senior leaders on compliance and organisational risk
*Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations
*Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
*Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations
Desirable*Chartered IOSH Membership (CMIOSH) or working towards
*Experience within education, public sector or another highly regulated environment
*Knowledge of premises compliance including fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene, electrical and gas safety
*Experience managing external compliance contractors
