Are you a positive, patient, and enthusiastic Youth Mentor looking for a rewarding opportunity supporting young people? Do you have experience working with children or young people and a passion for helping them develop their confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing?
A welcoming and inclusive Specialist School in Reading is seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor to join their supportive team as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Youth Mentor to provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils who may experience social, emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges, helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
This Youth Mentor role will involve:
*Providing consistent 1:1 and small group mentoring support to pupils
*Building positive, trusting, and supportive relationships with young people
*Supporting pupils with their emotional wellbeing and social development
*Helping young people develop confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
*Supporting pupils to manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies
*Encouraging positive engagement with education and school life
*Helping pupils develop independence and effective communication skills
*Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
*Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other support professionals
*ASAP start
*Well-connected Reading location with excellent transport links
If you have previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within youth work, education, mentoring, care, sports, community work, or a similar setting, we would love to hear from you. Experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural, or mental health needs is desirable, but a positive attitude, resilience, and genuine passion for supporting young people are equally important for this Youth Mentor position.
The school offers ongoing training, guidance, and support from an experienced leadership team, making this an excellent opportunity for a Youth Mentor to build valuable experience and develop their career within a specialist educational setting.
