Job Description:
Full job descriptionInterim Group Financial Controller | High-Growth Consumer Products Brand | Hybrid
The Client
Harmonic is delighted to be partnering with a fast-scaling consumer brand that has gone from start-up to serious scale in a short space of time, with revenues now in the tens of millions and growing quickly. It is a founder-led, physical-product business with real inventory and working-capital complexity and a loyal, fast-growing customer base. The commercial side has moved at pace, and finance now needs to catch up; this role is central to making that happen.
The Role
Reporting to the CFO and working side by side with them, the Interim Group Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and lead a hands-on overhaul of finance operations, systems and processes while keeping business as usual running cleanly. This is a change mandate first and foremost: the function is holding together, but it needs rebuilding for the scale the business now operates at. You will get into the detail across the purchase-to-pay cycle, stock and working capital, and the systems and controls that sit underneath them. You will have one management accountant alongside you and an outsourced bookkeeping partner to work with. This is a hands-on, operational role, not a purely strategic one.
Key Responsibilities
*Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and month-end close, keeping reporting accurate and on time throughout a period of change.
*Lead a hands-on overhaul of finance operations, systems and processes, building the rigour and controls the business now needs.
*Own the purchase-to-pay cycle end to end: supplier management, payments, and the process and controls around them.
*Take control of stock and inventory: stock movement, system handling, reporting, and driving working-capital improvement.
*Get more out of the finance systems, reducing manual work and building repeatable, scalable processes.
*Work closely with the outsourced bookkeeping partner, raising the standard of what they deliver.
*Partner with the CFO on the wider finance transformation, and support and develop the management accountant.
Essential Experience
*Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
*Genuine physical stock and inventory experience: stock movement, systems handling, reporting and working-capital improvement.
*A strong, hands-on financial controller with real depth in finance operations, systems and process.
*Proven change or transformation experience, comfortable operating in continual change.
*Background in a fast-growth business, ideally one that has scaled quickly.
*Available immediately and happy to be in the detail day to day.
Desirable Experience
*Consumer, retail, D2C, manufacturing or other physical-product sector experience.
*Experience improving or implementing finance systems in a scaling business.
*Experience working alongside an outsourced bookkeeping or accountancy partner.
Day Rate: £475-625 per day
Location: London/Hybrid
Duration: 6 month interim contract
Start Date: ASAP
