This role offers the chance to be part of a forward-thinking team that is committed to leveraging technology to enhance processes and reporting, following significant investments in new property and finance systems. You will play a pivotal role in bringing service charge accounting in-house, collaborating closely with experienced professionals across finance and property management. * Review, allocate, and process service charge expenditure across a varied property portfolio, maintaining meticulous records throughout.
* Prepare annual service charge accounts along with comprehensive supporting schedules to ensure transparency and compliance.
* Assist in the preparation of service charge budgets and forecasts by providing detailed financial data and insights.
* Liaise regularly with property managers, tenants, suppliers, and external accountants regarding all matters related to service charges.
* Ensure invoices are correctly coded and posted into the property management system while investigating discrepancies promptly.
* Reconcile supplier statements and maintain up-to-date supplier account records to support strong financial controls.
* Verify VAT treatment on invoices is accurate and review subcontractor invoices for correct Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) deductions.
* Set up supplier payments using banking platforms and finance systems, ensuring all payments are authorised and supported by documentation.
* Assist with month-end and year-end close processes including balance sheet reconciliations, audit requirements, and process improvements.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience within the property sector combined with knowledge of service charge accounting principles is highly desirable for this role.
* Previous experience in an accounts payable position demonstrates your dependability in managing invoice processing and payment runs.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel alongside familiarity with finance systems ensures you can handle complex data sets efficiently.
* Excellent attention to detail paired with strong organisational skills allows you to maintain accurate records across multiple portfolios.
* Effective communication abilities enable you to liaise confidently with internal teams as well as external stakeholders such as suppliers or accountants.
* Experience using Sage Intacct accounting software is desirable but candidates familiar with other finance systems are encouraged to apply.
* Familiarity with Re-Leased property management software is advantageous though not essential; openness to learning new systems is key.
* A professional approach combined with a collaborative attitude supports harmonious teamwork within the finance department.
* High level of accuracy when reviewing VAT treatments or CIS deductions ensures compliance across all transactions.
