Job Description:
Full job descriptionJoin Manchester City Council’s Family Contact Service within the Children and Families sector. We are seeking a dedicated Family Contact Worker to facilitate, supervise, and observe contact arrangements, providing essential support and advice to children and parents. This role is crucial in contributing to the assessment and support of families in need and at risk.
Day-to-day of the role:*Facilitate, supervise, and observe contact arrangements between children and parents, setting up and providing support as necessary.
*Undertake observation and assessment of supervised contact visits in accordance with the agreed plan.
*Contribute to the ongoing assessment of children and families’ needs, particularly those at risk of harm, as part of the contact visit.
*Provide accurate records of contacts and monitor the review action plan as agreed with the social worker.
*Ensure that child protection procedures and principles are adhered to, along with MCC social work procedures relating to court proceedings.
*Manage all aspects of a contact visit, resolving any behavioural and emotional issues that may arise, and ensuring that contact records are complete and accurate for team use.
Required Skills & Qualifications:*Demonstrated understanding of child development and experience working with children and their families.
*Familiarity with child protection procedures and principles, and MCC social work procedures relating to court proceedings.
*Proficient in planning, organising, problem-solving, and decision-making.
*Strong communication and administrative skills, capable of arranging and servicing complex meetings.
*Must be willing to apply for an enhanced CRB check.
*Current driving licence and access to a vehicle.
