Are you passionate about supporting children with their emotional wellbeing? This could be a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Assistant looking to gain valuable experience within a specialist school setting.
A welcoming Reading primary school is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Assistant to support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs within a specialist Resource Base.
The RoleAs a Mental Health Assistant, you will support pupils from Reception to Year 6 who may have Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma-related behaviours and SEMH needs.
Your role will include:
*Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.
*Helping pupils build confidence and independence.
*Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
*Developing strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
*Working alongside teachers, SEN staff and therapists.
*Supporting therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
About YouThe ideal Mental Health Assistant will have:
*A caring, patient and empathetic approach.
*A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*An interest in psychology, counselling, therapy, education or social care.
*A relevant degree is desirable but not essential.
