Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Location: Oakham
An established engineering business is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join its workshop team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist with strong experience in manual milling and centre lathe work, particularly someone who enjoys producing quality one-off and small-batch components to drawing and specification.
The RoleYou will be responsible for setting and operating manual milling machines and centre lathes to produce accurate components across a range of engineering applications.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Setting and operating manual milling machines to produce components from engineering drawings.
*Setting and operating manual centre lathes for turning, facing, boring, threading and general machining operations.
*Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
*Selecting appropriate cutting tools, speeds and feeds for different materials and machining operations.
*Using micrometers, verniers, gauges and other precision measuring equipment to ensure accuracy.
*Producing one-off and small-batch components to required tolerances.
*Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets quality and drawing requirements.
*Carrying out general workshop duties, including basic machine maintenance, tool care and housekeeping.
*Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment.
About YouThe successful candidate will have:
*Proven experience as a Manual Machinist.
*Strong practical experience with both manual milling and manual centre lathes.
*The ability to work confidently and independently from engineering drawings.
*Good knowledge of machining techniques, tooling and materials.
*Experience using precision measuring equipment.
*A strong eye for detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
*The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a workshop team.
