Job Description:
Full job descriptionA leading sports agency is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join its growing finance team. This role is 3 days per week in the office. This is a newly created role reporting into the Financial Controller in a team of 5.
The role
You’ll work closely with the Financial Controller and Management Accountant across areas including:
*Supporting the month-end close, including journals, accruals and prepayments
*Daily bank postings and bank reconciliations
*Supporting cash management and monitoring the cash position
*Preparing and supporting quarterly VAT returns, alongside monthly VAT reviews
*Balance sheet reconciliations
*Intercompany reconciliations
*Supporting overseas entity accounting and uploading trial balances into SAP
*Assisting with actual vs budget analysis
*Supporting European entity accounting and compliance
*Preparing schedules and reconciliations for the year-end audit
*Taking increasing ownership of areas of responsibility as your experience develops
About youWe’re looking for someone with around 1-2 years’ finance experience:
You’ll ideally have:
*AAT, bookkeeping and/or ACCA studies underway, or a desire to progress with a professional qualification
*A good practical understanding of VAT returns - essential
*Month-end experience, particularly journals, accruals and prepayments
*Experience with bank reconciliations
*Good Excel skills, including lookups, spreadsheets and ideally pivot tables
*Experience using an accounting system/ERP; SAP experience would be advantageous
*A proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to work independently
Experience within football, sport, media, advertising, talent management or an agency environment would be particularly attractive.
