*Salary: up to £40 per hour (via umbrella)
*Location: Doncaster Centre, Hybrid
*Job Type: Contract
Join our client in their Strategic Transportation Unit as a Transport Planner, playing a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the authority’s transportation function. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring some office presence, and is instrumental in developing, reviewing, and implementing transport strategies and policies at various governmental levels.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Transport Strategy and Policy:
*Develop and deliver transport strategies that align with national, regional, sub-regional, and local objectives.
*Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transport policy, legislation, and industry developments.
*Provide expert advice on transport standards to partners and stakeholders.

*Planning and Development Management:
*Assess and negotiate Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for planning applications.
*Manage consultation processes and provide technical responses to support planning decisions.
*Represent the Strategic Transportation function at Planning Committee meetings.

*Partnership and Stakeholder Management:
*Engage with regional and national forums to contribute to policy and strategy development.
*Build and maintain partnerships with internal and external organisations to address transportation issues.
*Act as a liaison with developers, the public, and other stakeholders.

*Project, Financial, and Contract Management:
*Manage budgets for transportation projects, ensuring effective planning and monitoring.
*Oversee the performance and quality of suppliers and contractors.
*Ensure transportation projects are delivered in line with policy, design standards, and financial requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Degree in Transport Planning or an equivalent qualification.
*Extensive experience in transport assessments, planning committee participation, and report writing.
*Deep understanding of transport policy, planning processes, highways design standards, and relevant legislation.
*Strong influencing, negotiation, and project management skills.
*Proven ability to prepare complex reports and represent the organisation in various settings.
