Locations: Leeds, Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Wakefield or York

A leading regional law firm is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Costs Draftsperson or Costs Lawyer to join its established in-house costs team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Legal Aid billing and family law costs experience to join a highly regarded team, working on complex and high-value publicly funded matters.

The Role You will take responsibility for preparing and managing complex Legal Aid bills, including high-cost matters, while working closely with fee earners and the wider Family team.

Key responsibilities will include:

*Drafting detailed and complex Legal Aid bills
*Managing high-cost family law matters
*Preparing bills for submission to the Legal Aid Agency (LAA)
*Working extensively with the Client and Cost Management System (CCMS)
*Reviewing files and ensuring costs are accurately recorded and recovered
*Maintaining consistently high billing and compliance standards
*Supporting improvements to electronic data capture and billing processes
*Assisting with costs reporting and management information
*Liaising closely with fee earners and colleagues regarding billing queries and requirements
About You We are looking for an experienced Legal Costs Draftsperson, Costs Lawyer or Legal Aid Costs Specialist with strong technical knowledge of publicly funded work.

You will ideally have:

*Significant experience of Legal Aid billing
*Strong knowledge of Family Law costs
*Excellent working knowledge of CCMS
*Experience preparing complex and detailed bills
*Knowledge of high-cost case billing
*Strong IT and systems skills
*Excellent attention to detail
*Confident communication skills
*The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team
Hybrid Working The role offers genuine flexibility, combining home working with attendance at one of the firm’s offices in Leeds, Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Wakefield or York, depending on your preferred location.
