Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in Wigan to recruit an experienced School Business Support Officer to provide vital administrative and reception support during a period of staff absence.
This is an excellent opportunity for a professional and organised individual with previous school office experience to join a busy school environment and play a key role in the day-to-day running of the office. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for visitors, parents and external agencies, ensuring the school maintains a professional, efficient and welcoming front-of-house service.
Your new role
*Supporting the smooth operation of the school office and wider administrative function
*Acting as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, staff and pupils
*Greeting visitors and ensuring safeguarding and visitor sign-in procedures are followed
*Managing incoming telephone calls, emails and general enquiries
*Receiving and processing deliveries, post and courier collections
*Updating and maintaining pupil records and attendance data
*Assisting with admissions, communications and general school administration
*Providing administrative support to senior leaders and teaching staff
*Producing letters, reports and other documentation as required
What you’ll need to succeed
*Previous experience working within a school office environment
*Strong working knowledge of SIMS is essential
*Experience managing reception duties and dealing with visitors professionally
*Excellent communication and organisational skills
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
*Ability to prioritise a varied workload in a busy environment
*Understanding of school safeguarding procedures
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
