*Job Type: Hybrid
*Location: Doncaster
*Hourly rate: £20.68 per hour
*Length of role: Initial 3 months
We are seeking a Transport Planner to play a pivotal role in the delivery of the transportation function within the authority. This position involves developing and reviewing national, regional, sub-regional, and local transportation strategies, policies, and programmes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transport planning and the ability to effectively represent the Strategic Transportation function at planning committees.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Develop and deliver appropriate transport strategies.
*Provide advice on transport standards to relevant partners and stakeholders.
*Represent the authority at regional and national meetings and forums, ensuring that the council has an input in steering policy, strategy, and programmes.
*Manage the consultation process on planning applications.
*Contribute to maintaining and improving existing partnerships within the council and with partners to address transportation issues.
*Support the management of the capital and revenue budgets for relevant programmes, ensuring effective forward planning and budget monitoring.
*Manage, monitor, and review the quality and performance of suppliers and contractors delivering transportation services.
*Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of relevant transport policy.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Degree in Planning, Transport, or a related subject.
*Detailed knowledge and understanding of transport policy, planning processes, highways design standards, existing and emerging legislation, and policies relevant to the service area.
*Highly developed influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to reconcile conflicting issues.
*Experience in undertaking work across a range of specialist activities to successfully deliver transportation projects.
*Understanding of project management techniques.
*Proven track record in preparing complex reports and attending cabinet & regulatory boards in support of senior officers.
*Ability to act as the representative of the council in meetings with developers, members of the public, and other stakeholders.
*Experience in implementing projects in accordance with policy, design standards, and financial parameters.
