Full job descriptionTeaching Assistant (KS2 Classroom Support) - Maternity Cover
*Location: Wyre Primary School
*Job Type: Full-time, Maternity Cover (Approx. 12 Months)
*Start Date: Ideally ASAP for handover and shadowing period
A beautiful primary school is currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their Key Stage 2 team. This maternity cover position is set to commence from the October half-term break and will continue for approximately 12 months. The school is eager for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible to ensure a comprehensive handover and shadowing period with the current postholder.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive school environment, with potential for the position to become permanent following the maternity cover, particularly due to expanding SEN provision and the integration of several pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Day-to-day of the role:
*Provide classroom support within a Key Stage 2 setting.
*Collaborate with the class teacher to deliver engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
*Support pupils individually, in small groups, and in whole-class activities.
*Assist in the preparation and organisation of learning resources.
*Promote pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
*Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
*Offer additional support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as needed.
*Participate in assessment activities and provide feedback to teaching staff.
*Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience working within a primary school setting.
*Preferably, experience supporting Key Stage 2 pupils.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
*A flexible, proactive, and professional approach.
*Commitment to supporting children’s learning and development.
*Understanding of safeguarding procedures and professional boundaries.
Desirable Experience:
*Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
*Knowledge of EHCPs and targeted intervention strategies.
*Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification.
*Experience delivering interventions to individuals or small groups.
