Are you a highly organised and detail-focused finance professional looking for your next opportunity?
We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join a busy finance team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a well-established organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Sage experience who enjoys working in a varied role covering purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and financial administration.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the wider finance function. You will be responsible for processing transactions, maintaining financial systems, reconciling accounts and assisting with reporting requirements.
This position would suit an experienced Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Finance Administrator or Bookkeeper looking to develop their skills within a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Processing purchase invoices onto Sage.
*Raising and posting sales invoices across multiple income streams.
*Recording income and expenditure transactions on Sage and Excel.
*Processing bank transactions, direct debits and cheque payments.
*Allocating supplier payments and customer receipts.
*Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards and petty cash.
*Maintaining and updating financial spreadsheets and records.
*Carrying out banking activities when required.
*Administering and monitoring petty cash procedures.
*Assisting with audits and annual accounts preparation.
*Supporting the production of monthly finance reports and management accounts.
*Assisting with funder and stakeholder reporting requirements.
*Maintaining confidentiality of financial information at all times.
*Undertaking relevant training and supporting the wider finance team as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
*Previous experience working within a finance or accounts environment.
*Experience using Sage accounting software.
*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
*Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
*Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
*The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*A professional and confidential approach to work.
Desirable
*AAT qualification or studying towards AAT.
*Experience supporting audits and management accounts preparation.
*Experience within a charity, housing, public sector or not-for-profit environment.
