Full job descriptionAn established and friendly accountancy practice based near to Colchester Essex is looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounts professional who is looking to develop their career within a supportive practice environment and gain further exposure to a varied portfolio of clients.
As an Assistant Accountant, you will work closely with the wider accounts team and be responsible for a range of accounting and bookkeeping duties for a diverse client base. Your responsibilities are likely to include:
*Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
*Bookkeeping and maintenance of client accounts
*Preparation of VAT returns
*Bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations
*Assisting with year-end accounts and tax work
*Processing journals and maintaining accurate accounting records
*Liaising with clients and responding to accounting queries
*Supporting senior members of the team with a variety of client assignments
We are looking for someone with 3–4 years’ relevant accountancy experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice.
The successful candidate will ideally:
*Be AAT qualified or nearing completion of their AAT qualification
*Have 3–4 years’ experience in an accounts environment
*Ideally have previous experience working within an accountancy practice
*Have a good understanding of accounting principles and procedures
*Be confident using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
*Have good attention to detail and strong organisational skills
*Be comfortable communicating with clients
*Be able to work independently while also contributing positively to a team
*Have a genuine interest in developing their career within practice
