Estates & Facilities Assistant (Caretaker)
Rotherham | Permanent | Full Time
Up to £25,456 per annum + benefits
Are you practical, reliable and enjoy working in a hands-on role? We are recruiting for an Estates & Facilities Assistant (Caretaker) to join a busy college environment, helping to maintain safe, welcoming and well-presented campuses for learners, staff and visitors.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in caretaking, facilities, estates, maintenance, site services or building operations who enjoys variety and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities
*Opening, securing and maintaining college buildings and grounds
*Setting up classrooms, meeting rooms and learning spaces
*Carrying out basic maintenance and repairs across the campus
*Assisting with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks
*Supporting contractors and external service providers on site
*Managing deliveries, goods, post and parcels across college departments
*Maintaining a clean, safe and accessible environment
*Responding to building emergencies, security issues and facility breakdowns
*Supporting health and safety compliance across the campus
*Assisting with fire safety procedures, evacuations and emergency responses
What We’re Looking For
*Previous experience in caretaking, facilities, estates or building maintenance
*Basic maintenance and repair skills
*Good understanding of health and safety procedures
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team
*Reliable, flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities
*Experience working within schools, colleges, local authorities or public buildings is desirable
All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
